My PC is a 6 year old Dell Dimension 9150 Pentium Dual Core with Intel 945P CPU, with 3gb of memory.
The Graphics Card is an ASUS ENGTS450 Direct CU/DI/1GD5 (with cooling fan)
Power Supply is an Antec TruPower 650W PSU
When playing Skyrim after about 2 hours the Graphics start to slip or freeze or fire back to desktop. Invariably this involves switching off the supply and restarting the system.
I am pretty sure that this is an overheating problem.
I propose to fit an 80mm input fan and a 120mm exhaust fan into the case. Plus maybe an 80mm PCI slot fan.
My problem is where to get the power for the fans.
The Antec PSU has 2 x 12V1, 1 x 12V3 and 1 x 12V4 available connections on the side of it. Can they be used for the fan power supplies? If not, then which connections on the motherboard can I use?
One high street company says I can certainly fit one fan on the PSU, another company says not to use the PSU but fit to the motherboard.
I also see that there are splitter cables to enable multiple fan connection. What do members think?
Please help
