Re: Refurbs sold with Known Failing hard drives?!

Dell did the honourable thing, it supported its product which few companies do which is why I buy new and refurbished Dell computers.  I am using a Dell Demension 8400, build date 090104, which I got back from one of my sons who I purchased it for when he started university and it runs Windows 7 without a hitch and probably Windows 8 too.  I've bought Dell laptops for me and my daughters and I just bought a refurb Optiplex 960 which, although it is a good desktop, it isn't built as well as the Dimension 8400.  I've also bought many Apple computers but, even though the hardware is solid, Apple orphans them by not providing video drivers in new iterations of Mac OS which doesn't happen with Windows and I have Windows 8 running on the Optiplex 960.  Dell has made some problematic computers with manufacturing defects such as the D600 laptop which suffers from memory socket problems (Not Dell's fault because of manufacturer caused poorly designed motherboard traces to the sockets that didn't cause the problem until a few years after manufacture) and the D810 laptop which has LCD display problems (vertical line(s) down the display which is not Dell's fault because of a faulty design by the display manufacturer) and the notorious faulty motherboard capacitors (not Dell's fault for being scammed by the capacitor manufacturer from a faulty counterfeited design document.).  Even though there are problems with hardware and software, I am in awe of the ability of such complex circuitry and programs to work at all and I will continue to buy Dell.
