On removing the other two new chips (leaving me with 6 original Dell modules) there's still 8GB available, but now only 4GB "hardware reserved" in resmon.
Can RAM only be added in 8GB chunks? I notice that Dell isn't even selling 800MHz 2GB modules for this machine any more. :(
