Re: XPS 2710 BIOS A06 -> A08 doesn't work

@Zeno - Please remove your Service Tag asap. It's a violation of the forum's terms of use to post personal info.

Unfortunately, Dell's Support site has not worked correctly in months, especially when you search by Service Tag. We've been complaining about this, like forever. Angry

If I search using my Service Tag, it doesn't offer a chipset driver, which I know to be essential for my Dell. So I wouldn't take the difference between filtered vs unfiltered all too seriously.

The Support site doesn't distinguish between XPS 2710 with and without a touch screen, and there is an updated driver listed for the touch screen.

I believe both A08 and A09 are applicable to your system. You might want to download A08 again, in case the file you have is corrupted.

I think you have to disable your antiviral/antimalware software before you'll get the flash update to work. Not sure what you use, but you should be able to boot to the desktop and then disable them, probably via icon(s) on the taskbar.

Disconnect all peripherals, except mouse and keyboard before running the flash. Then double-click the flash update file on the desktop and see if that works.Be sure to go from A06 only to A08, not directly to A09. When it first reboots after the A08 flash, you'll have to go into BIOS setup (press F2) to change SATA Mode to RAID, otherwise it probably won't reboot. When it does reboot to the desktop, make sure your antiviral/antimalware software has started.

When you're sure A08 works properly with all your hardware, you can consider flashing to A09 - or not...

If this doesn't solve your problem, I'll see if I can get one of my Dell tech contacts to look at the issue.
