If the drive is bad, it cannot be fixed. So what you need to do is figure out whether it's bad or not, and if it is, then you need to get a new hard drive.
My suggestion would be to use your drive manufacturer's diagnostic tool. If you have a Seagate or Maxtor, go to the Seagate site and download the SeaTools ISO, burn that to a CD, and boot your desktop to the disc to run the test. If you have a WD, go to the WD site for their diagnostic tool. The best way to test a hard drive is not to boot to Windows but to a CD or USB key and run the diagnostics from there.
