Model:Dell inspiron 570
the error I'm getting when I'm running diagnostics is this
Error code 0146
Msg: Error Code 2000-0146
Msg: hard drive 0 - self test log contains previous error(s)
I've been hearing conflicting answers whether I'd need to buy a new HDD or it can be fixed without purchasing the HDD
It started when I system reset(to factory settings) my computer with Dell DataSafe Restore and emergency backup, it seemed normal as I was setting up the computer, but when I got into my profile and pressed Documents,Music,Pictures, and computer it gave me the error Explorer.EXE invalid access to memory location.(DID NOT RECEIVE THIS MESSAGE BEFORE I SYSTEM RESET). I proceeded to the dell forums for free support. People told me to run diagnostics so I did and I got the error message above. If anyone could help it will be very very appreciated ( I need to know what to do to fix it Also which HDD , if needed, do I have to buy, I am NOT on the computer that is broken, I am on a laptop and I'm sitting next to my broken PC) I would like to fix it myself if possible, I have flash drives for anything thats needed to transfer(64GB flash drive) and If i do buy a new HDD do I have to still buy an installation disc?
Now when i ran the custom test it showed no error, I click hard drive checked non-interactive test only and when it was done, The tabs that were checked under the hard drive customize window was Confidence Test device quick check(unchecked circle is grey) drive self test(long) (unchecked circle is grey) Drive self test (short) read test seek test SMART test and verify test.
I need some trouble shooting to fix the errors, please help
