Thos19My employer was cleaning out its surplus equipment, and I was given an Optiplex 210L (2006?) XP machine for my son. XP is okay, but I would like to use Windows 7. I ran the Microsoft Windows compatibility software and received a report that the driver for the Intel chip set is not compatible with Windows 7. Does this mean that I need an updated driver, or that the PC can not run Windows 7 no matter what?
The 210L has a PCIe-x1 slot: HIS has a nice card available, but it's $100.
The rest of the hardware should have Windows 7 drivers, as is the case with my Dimension 3100 (slightly older than the 210L).
