Well. Here it is, June 2013, and none of the answers on this thread do me any good anymore. Short version: Inspiron 530S. I'm having line-in sound issues (mentioned in a separate thread) and nothing is helping. Finally I checked the BIOS. It's the dreaded 1.0.18. I noted on Dell's Drivers page for my service tag # that the "current" (that means "only") recommended BIOS is version 1.0.1. Yeah. A million versions ago. I downloaded it, (it's a self-running EXE, of course) hoping that it would flash a lower version than the current one, and of course it will not. It returns an error and tells me I can't flash an earlier version. I got all the way to the end of this thread and found the list of previous versions. Unfortunately, Dell has removed every single one of them from the http://ftp.us.dell.com/bios page. So...can anyone tell me how to flash an earlier version, and/or point me to a place where I can get the file to do so?? I certainly wonder about Dell recommending an ancient BIOS for my machine and then not letting me put it on the damn thing...
