I've tried installing XP (and XP x64) on my XPS 8500 but the chipset driver installation halts at the AHCI SATA driver stage.
Onboard SATA is set to AHCI in the BIOS and the BIOS has been updated to the latest version. My problem may be the BIOS upgrade.
