Customer Service

This is being written on my 7th Dell Computer Service Tag # <ADMIN NOTE: Service Tag removed per privacy policy>

This could be a very long post, but no one reads those.  I'll just outline my experience.

Due to un-safe computing I had picked up a couple of bugs.

This allowed two different PC Cleaning/Speed up software sites to present themselves while I was downloading drivers at Dell.com

I bought them both in January and could never get either  to run.  I just wrote off the cost to avoid more stress and aggravation

I bought one of them again yesterday after I offered it self while I was on the dell web site,

Not being very smart to begin with, I purchased PC Helper 360 a second time.  It would not install correctly.

Spoke to two of their tech reps.  Both of whom suggested an almost $200 additional purchase to complete the task for what the original product was supposed to do.

A little intelligence kicked in and I though maybe I should call Dell before I give these yo yos any more money

Called Technical Support at Dell and spoke with a very intelligent young man in India.  (Note to Dell Management - Thanks for sending all the jobs off shores    <ADMIN NOTE: Profanity removed as per TOU> )

They guy in India did a great job.  Got that junk out of my computer, and even convinced me to purchase McAfee for my computers again.

He was such a professional that I asked to speak to his supervisor.  When I spoke to the supervisor I told him how smart, efficient and professional his tech support man was and I said "give him a raise"

At the end of our conversation he offered to monitor my web browsing for 72 hours to see where I might be picking up the bugs.  Not thinking I said sure.

Then I had a change of heart and decided I didn't need Dell to monitor my browsing, I knew fully well where I was practicing unsafe computing

I am a 57 year old single man and my mother is dead.  I can go to what ever web site I want as long as I am willing to pay for the consequences.

Between the Helper 360 scam guys and Dell I spent 7 hours on the phone on Thur May 30, 2013

This morning, I got customer service on chat and simply asked that the not bother to monitor me.  There's no such thing as privacy anymore anyway.

I spent 3 hours today either chatting or on the telephone with various Dell Customer Service Reps or tech reps or software reps

I could get anyone to understand.  I did not express anger or frustration with anyone personally.  I did tell a few of them that stopping Dell from monitoring me was a lot of trouble.

I was transfered I think 8 times.  I had one of the chat reps log off leaving me in mid sentence.  All anyone cared about is if my warranty had covered what the good tech rep  done.

Finally one woman told me that if he had actually done that it was not covered under my warranty, so it wouldn't happen anyway.

That was when I decided I wanted to speak to someone at the Dell Headquarters in Round Rock/Austin TX.

It's impossible.  I bet Dell has snipers on their roof top.  I'd call a number with a 512 area code (Travis County TX) Being a 6th generation native of the State of Texas, you know these things

The closest I ever got to Austin was Panama City, Panama. I told the man I spoke to there it was nice to finely hear a Hispanic accent, I could understand him.

So much for the short posting [ADMIN NOTE: Profane word removed as per TOU]

Bottom line is, like I said this is the 7th Dell I have purchased in a row.  I bought this lap top and a desktop in January of 2012,  I bought the most warranty the salesperson could think of for both computers.  All the in home stuff for 2 years.

The experience of buying these last two computers was miserable.  It reminded me of  upgrading a cell phone.

If you don't want Dell to find you give them your service tag number.

Bought 7, but no mas.  I'm done.  Best buy or Fyes and anything but Dell.  Not because of the computers or the support groups that are all offshore.  Because what in the hell are they hiding from?  I live in Texas.  I know where the main building is.  It's less than a two hour drive.  I could have driven there, I  bet I could get past security and into the lobby.  Where I could make a HUGE scene.  Probably get arrested and it would have been a much more satisfying experience.
