I was working on my Dell last week and it powered down and then powered back up. The following screen keeps appearing: "We apologize for the inconvenience, but Windows did not start successfully. A recent hardware or software change might have caused this." It goes on to give options on how to start the computer:
Safe Mode
Safe Mode with Networking
Safe Mode with Command Prompt
Last Known Good Configuration . . . .
Start Windows Normally
No matter which option I select the computer takes me back to this screen. I cannot boot from the CD. I cannot start the computer in Safe Mode. I ran an IDE Drive Diagnostics test and received this:
Primary SATA
Drive 0: Maxtor 6Y160M0 - Fail. Return Code: 7
I have not installed any new hardware or software lately.
