brockpowersbeing somewhat new to the upgrade scene, is it hard to upgrade the chipset to accommodate more memory? i've added memory to my machine, but it only recognizes 3 of the 4 Gigs of mem. obviously, i need to perform this type of upgrade to access the memory. i thank you in advance for your input. investigating the cpu upgrades you recommended.

It is not a chipset issue, it probably an operating system problem.
When you have a 32-bit system, this does not recognize 4gb of memory, 3±gb is all a 32-bit system can address.
Basically what it means is, while you can install 4gb of memory in the system, the reason it’s not recognized is mainly due to 32-bit processors and/or 32-bit applications on memory address limitations.
64-bit processors & operating systems will recognize beyond the 32-bit limitation.
