Hi All,
I was wondering if anyone could help me with the following issue:
We have recently bought a batch of Optiplex 3010 machines that we are looking to roll out into our business on Windows 7. With the machines coming shipped with Windows 8, we need to complete a downgrade.
I have installed a 64 bit version of Windows 7 from a Dell CD - deleting the existing partitions in the process. The installation completes without issue and I then have a PC that I need. The only problem is - to follow this process with the installation and the downloading the necessary Windows updates is going to take me the best part of a month on 20 machines!
As a business we use Clonezilla as a solution - backing up a PC to an image, and writing the image to the HDD of another PC. In this case however, Clonezilla is giving me the following error:
"The selected devices: sda
This disk contains mismatched GPT and MBR partition: /dev/sda
It will confuse Clonezilla and might make the saved image useless"
It's also worth pointing out that Clonezilla gives you some commands that are supposed to delete the offending GPT partition, but alas, this does not work
It's a long shot, but I don't suppose anyone could shed some light on why there appear to be conflicting partition formats when I have deleted everything and installed Win 7 on the remaining "un-allocated space"
Many thanks in advance!
