The PCI-e slot on the system is not specifically meant for graphics card. You should be able to install RS232 Serial Adapter card on PCI-e slot.
Please share the operating system and where and when are you getting the error message. Also let me know if the card is fitting properly in the PCI-e slot. Please check if the card is getting detected in ‘Device Manager’ or not. You may follow the steps below:
- Press ‘Windows’ key + R on ‘Desktop’ screen
- Type ‘devmgmt.msc’ in run box and press ‘Enter’
- Check if the card the card is listed here and check for any red X or exclamation mark or question mark besides it.
