Hey there.. for those that are having issues with the Dell Driver & Download 'Analyze System for Update' Failures I've found a resolution for my system. This may be your issue to if your experiencing this problem.
Contacted Dell Customer Care and Hardware Support and neither could figure out why the 'Analyze System for Updates' would simply hang and give an error message.. Two full weeks working with them with no resolution.. then finally I figured it out and got it working properly by myself.
My System Date Time were out of sync with my BIOS Date and Time.. The Date and Time on my Windows task bar was correct (bottom right corner), but my BIOS was exactly one day off.. it showed the previous days date.. example.. Windows date and time showed Feb 22nd 2013 11:48AM, but my BIOS was showing Feb 21st, 2013 11:48AM.. Once I adjusted the BIOS to the real date and time and re-ran the 'Analyze System for Update' it worked.. FINALLY.. So this is for Dell Tech Support and for those of you comfy enough to go into your BIOS to check.
Instructions:
1. Check the Date and Time on your Windows desktop and write it down. (so you don't forget when your in your BIOS)
2. Reboot your system.. just as the Dell Logo is starting up start tapping F2 (Don't hold it down, but rather tap it successively until the BIOS screen pops up)
3. Look at the Date and Time field (in my case was one day off).. and compare to the Date and Time you wrote down from Windows.. if they Don't match, adjust the BIOS Date and Time to match Windows (make sure Windows is set to the correct date and time first).
4. Save and Exit your BIOS after you've corrected the Date and Time.
5. You should boot directly into windows after you Save and Exit the BIOS.
6. Go to your My Dell Support Centre.. click on Software Updates..
7. When presented with the Web Page click on 'Analyze System for Updates' option.. it should now work with no Error's.
NOTE: I am not putting the specifics of how to make BIOS changes as only those that are VERY Comfortable touching the setting in the BIOS Should and those will know exactly how to follow these instructions.. not for the fait at heart.. if you have this issue have Dell help you if your not comfy making changes to your BIOS.. you can cause major issues if you make changes without knowing what they do.
Have fun.
