Re your car analogy, I offer you this: Let's say you bought cars from the same dealer for twenty years. When you bought the last car, the dealer said that you can return it for any reason within 30 days. They would swap out that car for another car that you wanted. You went to see him and he said that you couldn't return it because you signed the paperwork 33 days ago even though you got the car 28 days ago.
I am sure that we can live with Windows 8. My beef is that Dell employees (IMHO) did go the extra mile to insure customer satisfaction for us.
