Re: Upgrading Inspiron 570

Thanks so much for your help. I don't think I'd be able to do this without it.

I don't know how long it would take to get here but I do think in the end I'd like to have

HD7770 gpu

Phenom 965 overclocked

In my case (Cooler Master Centurion 5 ) If my case is better than the dell stock one.

I'm not going to be able to buy everything right now and do it tomarrow, so I need a plan that will allow me use what I have and upgrade over time. Could that work? I guess I'm thinking upgrading while being able to still use the system. Sorta like this

1 weekend Get new 965 CPU don't overclock it and use it in my dell case.

2nd weekend  get new case ready for transfer and instal new cooling

3rd weekend swap items from one case to the other

and so on,

4th acquire new version of Windows and install  (On overclocking I first thougt I would have to buy another version of windows 7 home, but i dont think thats the case. Right?) I do have Windows 7 64bit on my system and the ram is 4gb that came with it.

5th overclock

6th instal new ram

7th order HD7770

8 Finish project

Total overall budget would be

965 CPU $100

HD7770 $130

New Ram $???

Cooling    $???

I have a case cooler on it already

Windows 7 $???

Anything else?

In the end is it unrealistic to upgrade while still using the system?
