RoHeWhy is the boot hard drive on SATA1? It should be on SATA0.
Why do you unplug PC? Can't you leave it powered off but still plugged in?
If it worked ok after doing all that stuff, at least until you shut down and unplugged. then you may have:
- Dead motherboard battery
- Motherboard battery installed upside-down
- Battery not making good contact - Inspect and carefully/gently wipe the socket with lint-free cloth. Remove fingerprints from battery and hold only by edges.
- CMOS chip on motherboard failed and won't holding settings
Let me change that, Windows is plugged into SATA1, the MBR is on SATA0. It really doesn't matter who is where as long as it boots.
When I get home I will check its time...if its correct then the battery is still good. Normally I do leave it plugged in but its being worked on in my bedroom with the cover off and the power LED is annoying.
rdunnillSpinrite can't fix hardware failures and this drive is failing, as indicated by SeaTools. I've got the files off of it, but I'd like to try to generate a disk image using ddrescue.
Regarding your issue, you might try a third-party SATA card.
No but it can recover bad sectors. I have the space, I might try that.
