Re: Continuous running of hardware

Hi BigBobT,

I believe you are referring to the noise coming from the system fan when it is in sleep mode.

Run diagnostics on the system to confirm hardware functionality. Steps to run diagnostics are:

  1. Turn on or restart the computer.
  2. When the Dell logo appears, press or tap 'F12' key immediately.
  3. Use the 'Arrow' keys to highlight the 'Diagnostics' option and press the 'Enter' key.
  4. The 'Diagnostics' will start. Please share if you come across any error message.
     
If the diagnostics pass, please update the video drivers from the link http://dell.to/13NwaTW 

Check the settings of power options, under the 'Power Management Settings'. Also check what action is selected against the option 'When I close my lid'. You may refer to the link for support in this: http://bit.ly/16tr2lF
