I have an Optiplex GX1 which I installed a Generic CD/RW drive sometime ago. The drive was working fine and now it's not working. The light comes on when the system is booted up but it will not read or write to the disk.
The drive is not referenced in the device manager.
Tried to reinstall the drive using add hardware (no luck)
Tried to add/update driver (no luck)
Tried to reboot from cdrom (have driver and options re-installation disk) (no luck)
Is there a link out there which would provide a driver for the device or should I consider replacing the drive?
I know the GX1 is an old pet but would like to keep it a while longer.
