As rdunnill correctly said, check in device manager if the Audio device is detected in device manager:
- Click on Start and then Control Panel.
- Click on the Performance and Maintenance link.
- Note: If you're viewing the Classic View of Control Panel, you won't see this link. Simple double-click on the System icon and proceed to Step 4.
- In the Performance and Maintenance window, click on the System icon near the bottom of the window.
- In the System Properties window, click on the Hardware tab.
- With the Hardware tab selected, click on the Device Manager Button.
- Check if the Audio controller is detected under Sound, Video, Game controller.
Install the Audio drivers from the below mentioned link:
For keyboard layout, follow below mentioned steps:
- Click Start and then Control Panel
- In Control Panel, if you are in Category View, click on Switch to Classic View (top left corner)
- Open Regional and Language Options. , under the Formats tab, change the format from English (United states) to English (United kingdom)
- Under Location tab, Current location should be changed to United Kingdom
- Now, under Keyboards and Languages tab, click on Change Keyboards.
- Select the United states entry and click on Remove.
- Click Apply, then ok and exit the Region and Language.
