OK, so I reformatted the hard disk on my Optiplex GX270. Long story but machine wasn't working, had 'Unmountable Boot Record' blue screen and booting off an XP Boot CD found faults and only allowed me to reformat the disk. I know I've lost everything on there and I have to start from scratch but that's were my problems are really starting.
The boot disk installed a copy of XP Professional but when I run it I have ONLY 800x600 graphics with 16 colours and no internet access so I'm guessing there's a whole heap of drivers I need to install. So where do I start?
I guess the first thing I need is to be able to access the internet/broadband so that I can download whatever I need directly to the offending machine but for now I can use my son's PC to burn a CD to get me started. Any help will be much appreciated by an enthusiastic novice!
