I have a four year old Vostro 410 running Vista and when I press the power button to start up the computer I can hear the fans start but they then instantly power down once I take my finger off the button. I thought that the power button on the plastic front of the computer wasn't quite reaching the switch. So I repeated the process without the plastic front cover, but I keep getting the same as before.
If I keep my finger on the power button the fans start, power down, start again and power down again. But each time they seem to power up for a little longer and eventually the computer will start. It's like turning the key in your car on a cold morning. It seems to struggle to begin with but if you keep going it'll eventually start.
Any suggestions to what the problem could be?
