What kind of controller have you in your Optiplex GX620?

And firmware version of: bios, sata ecc...

If I connect the SSD, for example on SATA1 port and boot my Dimension 9200 appears:

- load bios version 2.5.3 DXP061 series

- Next screen have:

Serial ATA AHCI BIOS, Version iSrc 1.02.23 11 21 2006

Controller Bus#00, Device#1F, Function#02: 03 Port, 02 Devices

Port-00: Hard Disk, WDC WD3200KS-75PFB0

(This drive is controlled by the RAID BIOS)

Port-01: No device detected

Port-02: CDROM, HL-DT-STDVD+-RW GSA-H31N

AHCI BIOS installed

Intel(R) Matrix Storage Manager option ROM v6.0.0.1022 ICH8R

Drive 1 not found: Serial ATA, SATA-1

Strike the F1 key to continue, F2 to run the setup utility

----------------------------------------------

So how can you see the operating system does not matter.

The Samsung 840 120GB is a SSD SATAIII or SATAII compatible, but I suspect that my ICH8R controller is only a SATA I and does not recognize the SSD.

In fact, in the bios setup on SATA-1 port I have:

Drive details:

* Drive ID = Unknown

How do you see your SSD in bios setup on the SATA port?

Thanks,

Jan
