I have a Dell Dimension 5150 desktop computer.
I am attempting to install an extra hard drive in the 'flex bay' in the CPU.
I find the 'sliding plate' must be moved down permanently to allow insertion of support screws for the drive cage.
What is the purpose of this sliding plate? Does it matter what position it is in? Can I disconnect the springs controlling the position of the sliding plate?
As mentioned above, this sliding plate interferes with insertion of the mounting screws for the cage and floppy drive.
Can I disconnect and ignore it? It does not appear to serve any useful purpose.
Any input would be appreciated.
