Hi shonabby,

XPS One 2710 is built with either one of the following wireless adapters:

- Dell Wireless 1704 802.11 b/g/n, BT4.0 + HS
- Dell Wireless 1703 802.11 b/g/n, BT4.0 + HS
- Intel 6235 802.11 a/b/g/n, BT4.0 + HS

The 'Dell Wireless 1703/1704 card' in this unit works on single band at 2.4 GHz only. The 'Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6235 WLAN card' works on dual-band at 2.4 GHz/5 GHz.

It appears that your system is built with the 'Dell WLAN card'. If yes, you may not be able to connect it at 5 GHz frequency. If the 'Intel WLAN card' is installed, it can be configured to work at 5 GHz also.

To confirm, you may check 'Device Manager' to see which 'WLAN card' is listed. Click 'Start' > Type 'devmgmt.msc' (without quotations) in 'Search box' and tap 'Enter' > Expand 'Network Adapters' (WLAN card should be listed there).

Please share the details if the 'Intel' based card is installed; will take it forward.
