I've searched through the threads, but wasn't able to find an answer, so hopefully someone can help.
I recently received a 4600 as a hand-me-down. I decided to set it up as a gaming machine. I know it's an old PC, but I don't plan on playing anything newer than Battlefield 2142 (I use my Xbox 360 to play newer games).
In any case, I was able to get a new Radeon X1950 PRO on eBay for $35 shipped to replace a 6600GTOC whose fan has stopped working. I figured that since I got the video card for such a good price, upgrading the PSU would still be worth it over upgrading the motherboard or getting a new PC.
I started looking at PSUs and noticed that some of them have their own power switch. Does this mean that the power button on the front of the 4600 will no longer work? I'd like to go with a PSU where I can still use the power button and not have to reach around the back to turn on the PC.
BTW, here's the rest of the specs of the 4600:
CPU: Pentium 4 HT 3.06 GHz (Northwood) - HT disabled
RAM: 3 GB PC3200
Drives: One WD 320GB IDE, one DVD-ROM and one 3.5" floppy
No other expansion cards besides the video card will be installed.
Thanks in advance for any help.
