OS getting rebooted automatically post Driver install

0
0

I have downloaded network driver (Network_Driver_FDP8R_WN64_17.5.0_A00.EXE) for Windows 10 64 bit for R7910 workstation which has "Intel(R) Gigabit 4P
I350-t rNDC
" from below link

 http://www.dell.com/support/home/in/en/inbsd1/product-support/product/precision-r7910-workstation/drivers/advanced?os=wt64a

Below are the steps I performed for driver installation

  • Opened command prompt in administrative mode and extracted Network_Driver_FDP8R_WN64_17.5.0_A00.EXE file to a folder in C drive on the target system.
  • In the command prompt go to C:\network path. (network is the extracted folder name in C drive)
  • Execute below command to install the driver
  • Setupx64.exe /qn /norestart BD=1 ANS=1 DMIX=1

After the silent installation, the system rebooted automatically.

I want to know how to install the driver and proset without
auto-rebooting. I will take care of rebooting the system immediately after the
driver is installed.

My 540 intermittently will not power on. When it occurs, I disconnect power source and all peripherals.  Discharge computer by holding power button until rear power light goes out.  With everything disconnected, I try to power on with no success.  Reconnected everything, wait for about an hour and computer powers on ok.  This has happened a couple of times.  I have had problems in the past awakening computer from sleep mode so I have disabled that function.  Can anybody help me to diagnose this issue?

Thanks,

Jim

Problem Flashing BIOS on a Precision T5810

Hello,

I'm currently having problems with updating the BIOS on a T5810.  It is currently running on A13 and I have attempted/failed to install the A14 and A16 updates.  Interestingly enough, in my environment I have two T5810s purchased at the same time, and I am not having this problem on the other tower - I have updated it from A13 to A14 to A16 without any issues.  I am using the exact same BIOS file on both devices, so it cannot be a corrupted or invalid file.  In addition, both devices are mostly similarly configured.  Both workstations are running Windows 10 Version 1607 and I have attempted to flash the BIOS with multiple updates of Windows.

As for the error itself, I run the BIOS update as an administrator from my desktop, enter my password, and the BIOS update bar will fill up, and my PC will reboot.  However, rather than loading the BIOS/flash menu and updating the BIOS, Windows will boot normally.

As an aside, I've read a few posts with people having success via booting through USB, but this is not an option in my case, as I will be unable to bring a USB into the hosting facility.

Wanting to upgrade an XPS 8700 Graphics Card

Hello, I'm totally new to pretty much all of this, but I bought a Dell XPS 8700 Desktop with a AMD Radeon 7570 about 4 or 5 years ago and at the time didn't know anything about computers at all.

Since then however I've learned quite a bit about Hardware but I'm definitely a novice still, I've only ever upgraded a couple Laptop Hard Drives, nothing major like this.

I was wondering if anybody could give me some tips or Suggestions on what Graphics card I can or should use I could really use the help.

If it helps here's my Specs PDF

Am having trouble getting the XPS to recognize this adapter and the SSD drive attached.

I planed the MyDigitalSSD drive in the M.2 slot, and successfully installed OS and made it a boot drive (off the M.2 slot).

Now, I would really like to make use of the PCIe adapter. Any help and pointers would be appreciated.

I'm trying to replace a hard drive with a new SSD in a Dell XPS 8910.  However, there is a big black plastic piece that goes across the middle of the two hard drive bays that are not mentioned or pictured in the service manual and must come off some how to get the drive bays out.

How do I remove this bracket?  It's pictured below:

Intel 45nm E8400 and Dell Optiplex 745. Bios Question

The e8400 is 45nm, 1333 FSB, Dell 745 has a limit of 1066, I am curious about this:

Bios 2.3.1

" New Micro Code for Conroe-L A1, patch 32
* Added support for Extended Model and Extended Family Intel CPU's "

It doesn't say which extended model and cpus are support/enable now. So has anyone manage to get an e8400 working on a dell 745?

Inspiron Desktop 3250 + GeForce GTX 750TI?

Can GTX 750 TI fit into inspiron desktop 3250??

I want to replace the GT 705 built in the desktop. I know GTX 750TI comes in different version. Most likely i need to go for single FAN model. If any specific model, please do recommend me. Thanks.

Other concerns

  • My PSU support up-to 300W. I assume that the GTX 750TI don't need additional power. Correct me if I am wrong
  • GTX 750TI is 2 slots sizing. Not sure whether this will fit my PC as current GT 705 size is single slot sizing

Graphic card for 3 monitors for Optiplex 790 mini tower

The Dell Optiplex 790 has a AMD Radeon 5450 graphic card, but does not have a Display Port and is able to support two monitors.

The user wants to view some building drawings which are large so needs a third 40 inch monitor. He has to shrink the drawings on his current 22 inch monitor.

1. What graphic card can support a 43 inch monitor like 43" Dell Multi-Client Monitor | P4317Q

Any other suggestions would be helpful.

Adding 2nd hard drive to Small Form Factor Precision Tower 3420

Newbie here. I have a 256 SSD drive and am thinking about adding a hard drive. I've looked at online videos and it seems easy when the second slot is right there in front of you. But I opened the 3420 today and am confused by what I see. The SSD is sitting on top. I assume the second slot is underneath it. Exactly how does one get to it - there's not enough room in front to simply slide the new hard drive in. The manual only deals with removing and installing the one hard drive. Do you remove the whole drive assembly?

Any hints or links to videos would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

8100 Studio XPS - Asus DRW-24B1ST - Will they fit?

It appears that my 8100 Studio XPS's two OEM DVD Burners are toast (Win10 sees them, but they don't read/write, except audio CD). Done troubleshooting and wondering if two of these Asus DRW-24B1ST will fit nicely in the 8100?

Desktop power on surge when power strip switched on

0

Bought a XPS-8900.  When I switch the power strip on, the 8900 powers on momentarily then powers off (call it an "a/c power on surge").  From there it remains powered off until I press the power on button on the top of the 8900 and then it powers on normally and boots into Windows 10.

This a/c power on surge has never happened to any previous desktop PC that I've owned.

I always do a shutdown at night and then turn off the power strip to remove a/c power to the 8900, monitor, and external hard drive docking stations.  But the a/c power on surge that happens on the 8900 when I switch the power strip on is a major concern.  It seems that the a/c power on surge would be harmful to all of the electronics in the 8900.

Is this a/c power on surge normal for an XPS-8900 or other Dell desktop PCs?

Which SATA driver should I use

Hello - I am embarrassed to ask this question and hope someone can help.  I have a XPS 400 and am needing to reload Windows XP (it is the only OS I have a CD for....).  The installer couldn't find my hard drive and I read the options of either setting BIOS to the RAID/ATA option or pressing F6 during install and loading the correct drivers.  When I go to http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/19/product-support/product/xps-400/drivers to download the SATA driver, there are three options there,

R130119.EXE, R130118.EXE, and R126083.EXE.  Which is the correct one for what I am trying to do?

Thanks so much!

XPS 8700 Legacy or UEFI?

My XPS 8700 originally came with Windows 7 Pro, 64.  I since upgraded to Windows 10 Pro, 64.  I only now noticed that BIOS is setup for Legacy.  If I attempt to setup for UEFI MY drive is not recognized.  A check shows that the drive is setup for MBR.  I thought all XPS 8700's came setup for UEFI.  Am I stuck with Legacy or can the new drive be setup for UEFI???
